Summer Camp Round-Up Part 1: Day Camps

Bergen County is home to great Day Camps Programs that cater to different needs and budgets.


Here is a sampling of camps in the area:



Spring Lake Day Camp: Technically a few miles past the Bergen County border, this camp located in Ringwood is a popular destination for kids in Bergen County with busing from all over the county and even from NYC.

The beautiful and expansive grounds feature zip lines across water, a climbing wall, high and low ropes courses, boating, a full visual and performing arts program, science and ecology activities such as gardening and fishing, a petting zoo, STEM programming including robotics, almost every sport you can think of, a large complex of pools, and so much more. The camp also offers leadership training programs for older kids who want to become part of the SLDC staff team.




Little Ivy Academy: This year-round enrichment center in Ridgewood offers a variety of summer camp programs for kids entering 1st through 8th grades.

Focused on STEM learning, Little Ivy Academy offers camps based on robotics, apps, gaming, web development, inventing, videography, and spy technology. For more information: https://www.littleivyacademy.com/




Palisades County Day Camp: Located at their Country Day Schools, Palisades offers summer camps for children 18 months through nine years at both their Fort Lee and Closter locations.

This camp is catered to the activities that embrace creativity, laughter, and growth in small group sizes that foster each camper’s social, emotional, and physical needs. For more information: http://palisadescountryday.com/about-our-camp/





Neil Klatskin Summer Camp: For children 2-16, Keil Klatskin Summer Camps are held in a variety of locations, including the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades. New this summer, they have included busing and extended camp hours. source=www.jccotp.org.

Cornerstone Day Camp: With a campus in Hackensack, Cornerstone offers a Day Camp for children K-5 and an Adventure Camp for kids 6-10.

Camp Sunshine: Founded in 1960, this Ridgewood camp is a summer recreational program for children and young adults with multiple disabilities. It is unique in that is has a large corps of volunteers who are able to provide one-on-one care to its campers. For more information: https://sunshine-snowflake.org/




Fair Lawn Jewish Day Camp: This camp is dedicated to enriching the lives of children from diverse Jewish backgrounds and affiliations through a stimulating camping experience.

Camp WYDACA at the Wyckoff YMCA: The Wyckoff YMCA offers a traditional camp program, a sports camp, and performing arts camp. All three include a myriad of activities. The Y has two indoor pools and a man-made lake. In addition to camp, there is a wide variety of summer program for weekly programs, swim lessons, and rec programs.
