Cresskill Library Hosts Virtual Art Auction to Raise Renovation Funds

The Cresskill Public Library missed out on a major construction grant given to many other Bergen County libraries and is creatively addressing the issue by hosting a virtual art auction to raise the funds they would have gotten from the grant. This innovative fundraising effort is the brainchild of Hercules Invictus, the president of the Friends of Cresskill Library.

Cresskill Library Live Stream Art Auction Information

Anyone who loves art and wants to support a local cause can participate in this live-streamed auction today at 7 p.m. or get a head start by pre-bidding on the auction website. This virtual art auction will feature 140 limited-edition reproductions of works in various media, including Monet's "Poppy Field" (starting bid: $80), Bansky’s “Keep Your Coins .. I want Change” (starting bid: $125), and Georgia O'Keefe's "White Calico Flower" (starting bid: $200).

A reproduction of Monet's "Poppy Field" is up for bid as part of the Cresskill Library online art auction on Jan. 28

The funds raised from this online art auction be allocated to the renovation of the library's children and young adult areas, said the library's director, Laura Chumas. This will be an integral part of the overall renovation of the entire library. These funds will go to the purchase of new furniture and technology equipment for those areas, as well as expansion to the section. This is an exciting and creative solution to missing out on the $200,000 construction grant for the overall library renovation.

Be sure to tune in tonight and support the cause, and get some amazingly beautiful new art in the process!
